University and Guidance

The University and College Office is dedicated to providing personalised support. We provide students and parents with all the information, support and guidance they need to make informed decisions about continuing their education and future careers.

It is essential that students have the opportunity to explore their potential and recognise their individual strengths and skills to fully understand what they want to do post-18. The department aims to help students make their subject, university and possible career choices, by providing a wealth of support and information. This is done in a number of ways:

  1. One-to-one guidance from the school’s University Guidance Counselor
Students receive one-to-one guidance to help them decide which course and university fits their profile. Parents can also make appointments to discuss any related issues such as university choices and processes, IB choices and implications of subject change.
  1. University Application Support
We will work together with each student and help them navigate their way through the different university application systems, providing guidance on their personal statement or college essays, mock interviews and practical support on results day.
  1. Additional Support
Each year, many university representatives from around the world visit Sandford to meet our students. In the first term alone of the current academic year, this included representatives from universities in the USA, Canada, Japan, The Netherlands, UAE, Belgium and China.
